In a recent Nascar race, the network had a camera pointed at a drivers feet. The brake pedal was set low so his heel was on the brake and his toe was working the throttle. Very cool to watch.

YUK NASTYCAR. Leave the pits in a flory of speed and turn left, left again, left again pass the pits and do it 199 times, now that's exciting.

I thought on ovals they just kept the throttle floored all the way around -- maybe a little less pressure on the turns.

I actually watched this one since it was on a road course. Normally I won't even come close to tuning in NASCAR. The camera angle was really good, and you could see the heel/ toe foot movement very well. I forget who the driver was, Robbie Gordon maybe?

Yea, they do reduce RPMS and throttle position going into the curves, but they sure as hell don't downshift! Hence, no heel-toe on ovals... They are in fourth gear and stay there before they even get on the racing line...

I believe it was the Nascar Sears Point race a few weeks ago they showed the same camera shot on a couple different cars. One driver was using the heal toe method and other was not.

The one that was using heal toe used his left foot for the clutch only. The other guy had one foot on the gas and the other on the brake and never even touched the clutch pedal.
