Texas traffic ticket help
my brother got a speeding ticket on a local road - 25mph over the limit. he's due in court in about 2 weeks, and he wonders what options he's got. in CA you can go to traffic school and not let this incident be on the record (to affect insurance), but i'm not sure how TX works. can anyone help? thanks!

You can take traffic school here too. He need to send the ticket in to the local court and request traffic school. I think the court fees are around $60, then another $30-35 for traffic school.

Rich - not really. if the ticket is WRITTEN for 25 over, then he goes to court and options are explored.
Sometimes, the cop will write it for 24 or under and then write in parenthases what the actual clocked speed was for reference.
Options are as follows:
Guilty - pay fine, insurance goes up, they win, that's it
Nolo Contendre/No Contest - you sign up for defensive driving, pay ~48 bucks and court fee, and take DD within a period of time.
Not-Guilty - depending if its a city/smallmuniciple court this will most likely happen - you go to court, have a pre lim trial where they try to talk you out of going to court by plea bargaining with DD options, etc.
that's it man. but he needs to check with the court or look on the ticket to make sure its under 25, or else DD isn't an option.
