Talked to a Cop

I'm sure he would say you started it. I don't disagree with any of your points, per se, but just imagine how you felt when he started telling you what was wrong with your car. Now imagine he was telling you what's wrong with your life's work...
Not an excuse, just an explanation. Even though some would deny it all day, cops act on their feelings too. Let it go.

JRM, you may have hit it right on the mark. IF indeed this happened, it would be interesting to know how the officer was approached - tone of voice, body language, confrontational demeanor? I've seen the type. They approach with adversarial intent and hence, the conversation can only go one way. There may indeed be pieces of the picture that are not being shown.
I take exception to these sorts of "I hate cops" threads. There are cops who are on this board and who own S2K's. I work with a lot of them and a few are my friends. And yeah, there are some who aren't the greatest of human beings but that is no different than any other walk of life. What possible good can come of a thread like this? What motivations?
I feel another award coming.

By the way Rodney King is back in jail also! Funny how things work out!! So" let's just all get along" is ok as long as your on the right side of the law. Criminals are habitual lawbreakers and take away your rights as honarable citizens. Law enforcement officers are there to protect your rights as honorable law abiding citizens. Think about this! Theses are the only guys that will stand between you and a bullet, a knife or anything that would harm you. These guys do it willingly without thought for themselves. I'd say they deserve better than threads like this.

yes, i too feel that JRM is right,
way too many teenagers and young adults immediately associate police officers and other law enforcement personell as being the immediate threat or "enemy" just because they are the ones giving away the tickets and enforcing state and federal mandated laws. i have a deep respect for officers and am planning on going into law enforcement myself as soon as im done with college. i just get really upset with people when they badmouth cops for no real apparent reason at all.
oh and bobatimez,
perhaps the body language or way you were speaking to the officer really rubbed him in the wrong way. think about that and put yourself in his shoes and vice versa. imagine how you would've reacted. and age does make a huge difference in this conversation also. if you are still a teenager or are in your younger 20's then perhaps he felt maybe you were just trying to harass him on his lunch break or something.
well the point i guess im trying to make is that we take police officers for granted and that without them, try to imagine what society would be like today.
