No not self-righteous, self-assured, self-motivating, Why, because I believe in something much greater. I'm just like you with the same thoughts and understanding, but with one little suttle difference, I know who I am and where I going and it doesn't have anything to do with this place. Happy New Year!

Holy crap!
Just makes me think, again, Adapt and Survive. Species with too much emotion die first
On the other hand this one is just ridiculous.. May easily lead into paranoia.. Must be really unlucky. And, hopefully, unlikely.
Good choice on not pursuing this further, John.. On the other hand if nothing is done, nothing will ever change.. Hmmmm.....

please let me clarify that i never meant to infer that all cops are bad or that we should hate all cops. i said that since some are bad, it means that there is a very real possibility that the one that gets to you is one of the bad ones. since there is a chance with a portion, all must be considered. THAT is ALL I MEANT.
You want to know who has won? the government and people in power want you, the public, to believe that there is such a things as right and wrong and good and bad. they want you to believe that they are right and good and trustworthy. they want you to think they actually know what they are doing. THEY have won because they already have the ability to mess with any of us at will and now THEY EVEN HAVE YOUR SUPPORT TO DO SO BECAUSE YOU THINK THEY ARE RIGHT... that is what i mean. they have won power, not a cookie. Power is the greatest commodity in the world.
Afghanistan is being fought as a PublicRelations move. what do you think the president's ratings would be if he did not retaliate? he would look like even more of a *****. that's why i feel bad for the soldiers over there. they are pawns in bush's game to look good for reelection. why bring up afghanistan? the argument is easily countered by asking why were we not fighting only until after we were bombed? you live in FL. I am in Los angeles, the friggin jungle in some parts of the city. i don't know anything about florida, but la is slightly more well known for HORRIBLE cops.
wavelet, who are you and how did you learn to speak like that about evolution? PM me, would you. im seriously facinated.
I was charged 87 dollars today for only having my fogs on. i was trying not to hurt people's eyes and i now have to pay money. how the hell does 87 dollars equal my actions? what's the rule about headlights? have em on so people can see you and you can see the road. my fogs are real HIDs. i satisfied both of those requirements. that is why i cannot agree with losing 87 dollars.
for the good sport in FL who lost 20 grand, i cannot even imagine. i would have seriously castrated that cop in his sleep. im sorry for your experiences, John.
Jeff, we are at war with the greatest enemy: ourselves. this nation presently, is NOT the nation that was founded 2 centuries ago. they were freedom fighters. we are now capitalists. im scared sh*tless that a guy like you is going to stop me. A GUY WHO THINKS HE IS RIGHTEOUS AND IS DOING WHAT IS RIGHT, BUT IS ONLY REALLY DOING WHAT HE IS BEING PAID TO DO. the people who gave it their all... they did it and then picked up their paycheck.
can we please come to a conclusion, not just give up and drop everything...
i propose that every pull over is recorded with AV and if there is a dispute than their is full proof. there has to be a way for the average citizen who has been wronged to fight back effectively. that officer that was found guilty of planting evidence and sending that guy to jail wrongfully... he only got 2 years in jail. do you think that's ok in any universe?

if you're tired of talking about cops, than let's talk about the country. JRM, this definitely is not the same place you grew up in. i say that with respect because you are older and you have been through hell and back. but today will never be yesterday, i wish it could be. much simpler times. let's figure out how we can get back to good, get back to right and wrong, get back to honor instead of money...

I agree that we have to protect our country and it's citizens. I don't think that any politician considered PR when deciding what to do in response to 9/11. I served in Vietnam, and believe me I sure did not want to go, but it was the 'law of the land' back then and a requirement of its' citizens.
The alternative would be to do nothing, let the terrorists continue to kill innocent people who were doing nothing other than trying to live their daily lives, support their families... in order to make their 'statement'. I'm sorry, I cannot agree to that. At least now we have volunteer armed forces, who have chosen this as their profession. They knew the risk going in, and I thank them for their willingness to protect all of us as the need arises. The terrorists attacked us big time on our own ground. They started it, and we cannot 'wimp' away from this. Evidently these extremists hold nothing, not even human life, sacred. They live by totally different rules which are not able to co-exist with civilized society. Someone has to put an end to this, and I think that we have the power to do so, assisted by the many other nations. It is not just our problem, but that of the entire world. Hopefully our troops will remain safe throughout this, as well as the innocent civilians...but let me say this... While in Vietnam I was stationed at Long Binh Headquarters (not in the medical field at that time) and the closest I came to death were two incidents involving an 'innocent' child and the second a woman. Fortunately their guns misfired, guess my guardian angel was watching over me. It just points out that not all 'innocent' civilians are innocent. War is war, unfortunately.
As for the cops, yes I was screwed - royally...just an example of what can happen when you dare to call and complain. I am not in fear of cops, but I have little or no respect for them any longer. They do not weed out the bad of their own... I've had speeding tickets, etc...just like anyone else - but this was a life changing biggie...I could have lost my license to practice over totally false charges. When's the last time anyone who threatened a cop's life was allowed to roam around for four days??? That in itself is a statement that screams volumes.
Happy New Year to all. Stay safe & healthy!!

<=== Do it on the racetrack!
I agree 100% with JRM and xviper.
But, that said, there are some police officers who have been at it too long. You can tell from the attitide they use when they approach you. Obviously, JRM is not one of these types.
And, to be fair, there are some motorists who have been "artistes" too long - the officer can tell immediately from their attitude. And there are a whole lot more of those than there are officers with attitude.
For us civilians, handling police situations is a "learned science". Just like (to name another popular topic on this board) handling a dealer!
