Streaming TV service? Advice please
I live in Santa Clara Valley, CA. Looking to better manage my Cable TV bill.
If I completely cut TV service from my bundled package, my internet rate jumps by $50 per month. My thought; buy just the minimum, basic TV plan to preserve low internet rate with a bundled plan and subscribe to a streaming service (I have a smart TV) for cable news, HGTV, kid networks and those sitcom rerun stations. None of the streaming services provide a comprehensive, detailed playlist. They just say try us for a free 30 day trial and see if you like us. Ugh, NO!
Does anyone have any recommendations? On line reviews are often out of date an swing from terrible to great for the same service.
TIA, Tom

Been at the same address in West San Jose for 16 years now. Canned Cable back in 2004 after the previous owners’ cable subscription ran out. Haven’t had a cable or sat service ever since.
Between my wife and I, we have Amazon Prime, Hulu, Netflix, Locast and NFL Sunday Ticket through our AppleTV. As far as “complete” programming, you’re hosed. No one streaming service has *everything,* However, if you want extended cable stations, I’ve been told YouTube Premium may be the way to go there (check for yourself on that). There’s also the upper tiers of Hulu which may be worth investigating as well.
Locast though, solved a bunch of LiveTV issues for us: Digital antennas in our neighborhood are terrible due to some cross interference and building issues. It’s basically an over-the-air digital repeater for $6 a month. It got us a bunch of sports coverage that we wouldn’t have otherwise been able to get.

Hulu is decent, but lacks AMC. I also think Sling is a good deal for a skinnier lineup. Depends on how much tv you watch.
We have Netflix, Amazon Prime, and a couple others that do their own shows that we like and we blink them on for a month, binge, and then shut them back off. Not enough decent content on any of them to justify keeping them on all the time.

Anyway, Locast is d-e-d dead, unfortunately. If I get back on the hump to solve this, I'll let you know.
