Speedvision is now the SPEED Channel. The NASCAR channel
Well my wife will be happy I guess. Speedvision is now called The Speed Channel and the commerical shows a NASCAR pit crew changing the sign over. I am guessing by the commerical it is going to be 75% NASCAR now and 25% good shows. At least they are still showing F1 Racing.

I don't think the 2002 television rights contract has not been negotiated yet. Seems they like to take that down to the line. I believe it was a couple years ago it was not until the day before the race it was settled. I would not be suprised to see ESPN get it back. That may not be all bad. I don't know how much interest the Nas..oh, I am sorry, The Speed channel will have with a sport that does not still use carbs and its technological high point is the drivers helmet.

So last night I'm watching the white TC Kline "hartopped" S2000 try to get around this Mustang with nasty looking nose-dive in the corners at Mid-Ohio (SCCA T2 Mid-Ohio run-offs, which ran in june/july?) and one of the commercial breaks featured the new "Speed" channel commercial/logo/look/etc. My stomach got sick.
The joy of watching the S2K going through the corners and wondering if he'd ever get around the Mustang (even though I knew he wouldn't since I'd already seen the results long in the past) had vanished. I almost felt like turning off the TV, and going into the garage to work on the car.
Is nothing sacred in this world anymore? I hope that we are just making a bigger deal of it that it really is....maybe the new producers will leave things just the way they are and only throw in the NASCRAP stuff in place of all the airplane "racing", boat racing, and the shows that feature the host with the funny mustache. Oh, they can put the American Muscle car show hosted by the Canadians to a later time slot..........is asking for an all race channel that features only SCCA, American LeMans, WRC, F1, CART, and One Lap too much?
