Speeding Ticket Without a Fine Update

Speeding Ticket Without a Fine Update
So I got a speeding ticket for going 75mph in a 60mph zone. The officer gave me a ticket, the ticket didn't have a fine written on it. I posted on here asking for inputs. Didn't get much for inputs. Just lots of flames and the thread got locked before I got a chance to respond. Just to clarify, I wasn't denying that I was speeding. I wasn't bad mouthing the police officer either. Just asked for inputs on possible options.
The court date was today (Dec 2). Yesterday I called the court and spoke to the clerk about my options with the ticket. Just had a casual and polite conversation with her about it. She pulled the ticket up on her computer and saw that the ticket didn't have a fine on it either. She dismissed the ticket.
Reasons being:
- Ticket was not completely filled out
- In the state of Oregon, you have 4 options to deal with a ticket.
1. Personally appear in court at the scheduled time and enter a plea.
2. Enter a plea of guilty or no contest by written appearance. (basically make a plea, send a check in the full amount. The court will look at the case and either keep all the money or refund a portion of it.
3. Enter a plea of not guilty by written appearance. (basically request a trial).
4. Contact the court and see if you qualify for a trial by affidavit.
By not having a fine on the ticket, you'd lose some of your options/rights. In extreme cases like careless driving, wreckless driving or anything else of that nature, the officer will sometime not put a fine on the ticket to force you to show up for court. But in smaller situations, the officer has to put a base fine on the ticket.
Just for future reference, in case it happens to someone else. Look at the regulations in your area and know your options.

[QUOTE=Fapout,Dec 3 2009, 09:53 AM] Go figure on this holier than thou faggot forum. Backlot is about the only place where you can post honestly without worries of being judged and flamed. Shit man, I posted a whole entire thread about getting caught with 5 oz. of cocaine and the only judging I had done on me was that I snitched! LOL
