Default speeding ticket in another state

i got a speeding ticket in Utah during my trip. i live in NJ.
i did 9 mph over the limit (i actually did 60 on 40mph zone but the cop gave me a break)
i was just wondering what would happen if I don't pay the ticket.
also would points carry over?

Yeah they will issue a warrant. You have to check NJ MVC website they will have a list of states they do "business" with.

Don't worry, Utah and NJ are still stuck in the 1700s. If you don't pay, they will probably not even notice, since all ticket information is updated between states via a pigeon courier. Pigeons are naturally hunted by falcons, so most of the time this information never reaches other states.

Good luck!

2 points will carry over to NJ. If you don't pay, you will have a warrant for your arrest in Utah.

In the early 90's I was stopped for speeding on Skyline Drive in VA by the US Park Police. I never paid because I moved before I got the notice and then I forgot about it.

Seven or so years later, I got a call from a Federal Marshal looking for the fine. I told him I pay promptly. I never did.

I been stopped for speeding more than few times since then (In MD, VA and FL) and never had a problem, apart from a speeding ticket.

Your mileage may vary...
