alright, i'll look into driving school. what does it entail? how many classes or whatever? it sounds kinda stupid to go to driving school, but then again, i'm picturing it as if i was just learning to drive and dont know anything.

i dont know about where you're from because laws may differ but here in california you can take traffic school to erase a point off your driving record. there are some that are online and DMV approved and they seriously just take a few hours. or you can show up in person and stay for 8+ hours. again, laws may differ but here in cali we can do this once every 18 months, you simply have to do some paperwork at the dmv (like check the box that says you would like to request to attend traffic school) and pay like 30 bucks extra plus the cost of traffic school (another 30 bucks). basically you end up spending $60+ your bail but its much cheaper than an increase in insurance rates. hope everything works out for you

I recently bought a 08 IS350 and the quote I got from Allstate was $950 for 6 months. The agent called the next day and told me that a ticket from two years ago came up on my driver's license record and the updated quote was $1,5xx for 6 months My insurance went up because of ticket I got two years ago for doing 45 in a 35 zone. Because I didn't go to traffic school, the ticket will won't come off for another year.

Always fight a speeding ticket! I don't care if he wrote you one for 1 over, you pay it and its on your record, then, next time you get a ticket, and maybe don't get a nice cop, you'll have a history of speeding tickets when you go to the judge.

Go to court, tell the judge you were getting off the highway and the decel ramp, and the cop wrote you a ticket for 5 over. Ten to one it will be dismissed by the judge, assuming the assistant DA even bothers to argue it and doesn't drop it outright - they are overloaded and have easier targets than a 5 over ticket. Be nice to the cop, nice to the judge, nice to the assistant DA.

Worst case scenario, you pay the fine and court costs, and your insurance possibly goes up for a moving violation. Best case, you spend 5 hours of your day in court and walk away with a clean record.

Over 90% of people who get tickets just pay them - and we wonder why speeding is considered a cash cow. 5 over most likely won't effect your insurance, nut you have moer at stake than that.

Wow, if you were in a 35, you weren't on a "back road"...
