Speed channel

Jeez, I don't know what your guys' problem is - I have more non-NASCAR racing from SPEED on my TiVo than I know what to do with. I've recently been deleting numerous British and German Touring Car races because there are simply too many of them to watch.

16916.
Just because it's winter here doesn't mean there isn't racing going on elsewhere. It's summer in the southern hemisphere.
I guess they don't race in Brazil huh? Ever heard of Senna, Fittipaldi or Barrichello associated with racing? (hint: they're all Brazilian). Or how about in Australia? I guess Mark Webber just happened upon F1 without having raced in Australia.
I would love it if they carried V8 supercars from Australia. Now it would be interesting to see a match between the 60's non-technology of NASCAR, and the new century technology of the V8 supercars.

I've been saying this for years. I don't understand how then can just ignore motorsport in half of the planet!?

Sad, but true.
That said, there's a market for carrying other motorsports. If Speed doesn't pick it up, somebody will. . . or would be foolish not to take advantage of the market out there.

37 MILLION people watched the Daytona race on a Sunday afternoon. That's more than 3 of the 4 primetime World Series games and 6 of the 7 primetime NBA Finals this past year.
8D... I think you've got it backwards. When the market for NASCAR dries up, or moves, or does something, they will pick up other Motorsports to fill the void. They won't take away something that gets watched by MILLIONS and MILLIONS for things that get watched by relatively fewer people. If that market existed, why isn't there another channel? Because some very smart marketing execs figure out what sells, what they can sell advertising on, and what people watch, and right now, no matter which formula they use, and no matter how many variables they throw at it, or where they do the calculations, there is only one answer for THEM, and thats NASCAR.
Someone mentioned 2 to 1 ratio? It's probably about 10 to 1 at the absolute least, and maybe even 25 or 50 to 1. (Absolutely unscientific! BTW)
