What cars did you consider before purchasing the S2000? Why did you get the S2000 instead of car X?
I am going through the same exercise at this time. How is S2000 for long(3hrs) highway trips? Does the noise get to be a torture?
I am a little concern that so many owners try to "match up" with cars like Corvette, 911 and M3. I would think that S2000 owners were not looking for cars like that. I have 2 Accords. I much prefer the feel of the 1992 4 cylinder EX than the 2000 EXV6. It's just more fun to drive.
BTW I am deciding between the Corvette and the S2000, and thought about the Boxter, and M3. Corvette owners try to "match up" with 911 turbo and Modena.

I considered the vette. The S2000 is more rare, less money and probably better built. I also didn't like the "Rocco" image the vette has, as nice as it is.

The S2000 is great for long trips. I used mine last year in Car&Driver's One Lap of America (5000 miles in 7 days). There was plenty of room in the trunk for clothes, tools and a few spare parts to cover the entire week. It's even quiet enough for the passenger to sleep if they don't mind sleeping "sitting up". We survived the whole week without even contracting a case of "TB" (Tired Butt!) I say go for the S2000 and spend some of the $5000-$15,000 you saved over the Boxter S or Z3"M" on ear plugs if the "noise" at cruising speed gets to be too loud.

1. M-Coupe
2. TT 225
3. Boxster S

S2000 in my opinion is as good or better than all for a fraction of the price and the Honda reliability is free!

I didn't consider anything else. I just got rid of a 98 Vette 5 months ago and traded in a Camaro SS to get into the S2000.

If I had been prepared to spend $55K two months ago on a toy, I would have gotten the Boxster S.

Because of: its engine, easier to drive at its limits (according to reviews), easier to drive fast with more low end torque, glass rear window, better braking (better than excellent?), side air bags, traction control, twice the luggage storage.

Heresy? Well, the S2000 is my first roadster and perhaps my last, and I love it! But it has awakened me to possibilities.

"glass rear window"
Barry. I think the rear window on Boxsters are also plastic. I am still looking up numbers on the braking. The consensus by car critics definitely favors the Boxster S.

Runner up to S2000, M-Coupe.

Possible replacement to S2000, e46 M3.

...although the extra $20k doesn't make it *that* attractive.
