S2000 Anonymous: Changing Mind on S2000 Purchase

KRAZIK-S2K and STL;
I agree with both of your post,if the decision to buy a car will be only on exclusivity what people that buy Porsche,BMW
M3 etc etc will do,are you aware of production numbers of some of the best sports car available compare to the S2000?

If you're worried about exclusivity, buy and S and slap stickers all over it and a huge wing on the back. And maybe some illuminated antennas and stuff.
Seriously, it sounds like you need a support group or a good hand holding more than an S.

All of you make great points, but we have all been duped! Truthfully, I love my car and I would have bought it reguardless, however I too was lead to believe the "limited production" sales pitch. We all are witnesses to how it has pushed prices up and beyond MSRP. Hell, dealerships are still quoting the 5,000 production number for the US! Only a luckly few have gotten the car at MSRP and no one that I know of has done better than it. The "limited production" was backed up by multiple sources. Everything I read up on the S2000 called for a limited production of 10,000 (Globally) with 5,000 allocated to the U.S. market. To my understanding through multiple posts and reading material this has changed to over 15,000 total production line (if not more) just for this year. And now there is talk of a full production life of 4 or more years. Honda released false media information about production life. Everyone is entitled to change there mind however if anyone of us do, IMO it doesn't have commerical implications. All of us here at one point or another considered our car a guaranteed classic. Now I know nothing is guaranteed, but IMO, "truly" having a limited production car helps. Just my Opinion.

Power6spd..
Not me... I payed 2 over list, not because they were going to be limited production, and my dealer told me it was going to be a colectors item, but becuase it was the best price I could find w/o driving over 500 miles. I never cared, nor will I ever care how many other s2k's there are out there.
I bought this car because I had been reading and drooling over it since the first time I saw the SSM prototype at vtec.net. I am a bigtime Honda fan and was and still am in awe over this car. I am 23 (22 when I purchased it) years old, I pondered weather I really wanted a $35k car when I had a less than 2 year old Honda Accord V6.
But I did it.. and never once looked back.
If you believe ANYTHING a dealer tells you... uhm... dare I say... "Your a bit gullable, or maybe even an idiot?".. well I won't assume that. but..........
And for the record.. you "Truely do have a limited production car" even at 10,000/year (US deliveries) for 5 years, there will still be less s2k's made than any other production car I can think of.
So if there are 15,000 or 50,000 in our little country... You still drive a limited production car.
Go look how many Civics, Preludes, M3's, Z3's and Porsche Boxers are made in a year.

Let's not be too hard on the guy. I got my car for MSRP ( all canadians did) and I knew I was in love with this car. But I bought it without driving it or seeing it. I put my deposit down on it and waited 9 months. The last few weeks I hemmed and hawed about the purchase. Thinking maybe I should get a 328ic because its sporty and I can use it as a daily driver. After arguing with myself for quite a while I bit the bullet and went in to the dealership to take delivery. The first time I had seen one in real life. It was awsome ( as you all know) My intention was to drive it for a summer and because I had also heard of limited production and the like figured I could sell it after the summer for what I paid for it and still have had a great car for the summer. Things have changed since. I can't imagine living without this car. It is everything I want in a vehicle and does something for me on more then just a man / machine level. My recommdation to you is if you can afford it go for the S2K. It is much more car then you think! Lastly I don't and didn't buy a car to make money on. Its always a losing proposistion, however I would still like to have some equity in a car. I got royaly ****'ed with my Millenia and hence lost 7k in equity from previous cars. I don't think this ones gonna let me down.
