I am a remodelor by profession, owner of Eyeplay Renovations, specializing in kitchens, and baths (the 2 most expensive rooms in the house to remodel). Is my house remodeled? Well it's like this........not quite, never have the time or the will to do it after working on someone else's all day.

How about remodeling tips? The bathroom is done and now it's the kitchen's turn. I paid to have the bathroom done but I want to tackle the kitchen myself. I think I can get away with just a new floor and a new countertop for the kitchen, along with new appliances. Any tips for laying kitchen floor tiles? It's not a big place, about 8 by 9 feet of floor space. The cabinets are not moving. Currently it has linoleum on the floor. I am thinking of ripping the old linoleum out and installing hardibacker cement boards and then tile on these boards. Any advice or tips would be much appreciated.

Your best bet is to lay out your floor on a 1/4" graph paper. Use 4 squares to equal 1 foot. Work from the center of the room, and you can play with different patterns of tile. Here is a picture of how I laid my floor. The tiles are 12"X12", 6"X12", and 6"X6". The room is roughly a 16' square.

I'm in the middle of an extensive remodel. The builder did real stupid things that I have to correct. Undersized headers, a 16" x 6" x 20' beam resting on one 2x4, heating 700 sq ft with a single 8x8 trunk, etc. etc.

What a moron.

It is moslty fixed now. I'm putting in a new floor & then trim & I should be done. Looks like my s2ki phots album is broke so I can't show pics.
