Questions for the electricians
So i replaced a ceiling light with a ceiling fan/light combo. in the ceiling were 4 wires, a bare copper ground, black, white, and red. Normal so far. Everything hooked up fine and works... sort of. I have 3 outlets on the left side(L1, L2, L3) and 1 on the right (R1). Previously, L2 and R1 turned the light on/off. L3 is for an exterior light, and L1 didn't do anything i observed. Below is a matrix of switch position options and the corresponding action(s). can someone figure out what is going on in the wiring. Ideally, R1 and L2 are three-way'd to the light, and L1 is for the fan.
L1 L2 R1 Action
D D D Fan On, light normal
D D U Fan Off, light Off
D U U Fan On, light normal
U U U Fan Off, light bright
U U D Fan Off, light bright
U D D Fan Off, light bright
U D U Fan Off, light bright
D U D Fan Off, light Off
I can pull the switches to describe the wiring of that will help, and i can describe the fan wiring if necessary as well.
thanks
Dave
