Default questions bout insurance

What up fellas, so i know everyone has different insurance, but so you have an idea, i have a lien on the car so i have everything and my deductable is 500. Anyways, i got in the car the other day and saw a little light coming through the soft top. So i called my insurance (allstate) and she said that since i had full coverage with comp, it would be covered if its vandalism or property damage or something along those lines. So what im trying to figure out is if it would be possible to get a ht instead of another soft top? Anyone have any experience with a similar scenario? All info is appreciated.

I really hope you are not considering insurance fraud. You can go to jail for that, you know.

Ummm...HUH? All i asked is if anyone has had a similar experience and thought they would go for a ht instead of another soft top. I just moved to WA from AZ, and it seems like a HT would make more sense. I dont know how i would make it insurance fraud though?

lol, no no no. I THINK it happened because of the garage that i park my car in. They have been doing construction and i thought they were going to be workin on my garage at a different time. Long story short, I came out and their was the hole, but ill leave it up to the claims adjuster to figure that out, lol. I just wanna know if it would be possible to get a ht? or maybe pay the diff?

they'll give you the money it takes to fix it. Technically you can do what you want with it I think.

The cost of a softtop is way under the cost of a hardtop, so you should plan on spending an extra $1500+ out of your pocket in addition to what the insurance company gives you.

k, thats what i was thinking. I just thought they wrote out a check to the company that would be doing the work and i would never see it. Is it possible to do the work myself and not take it to a shop or will insurance make me do it?

The insurance co. should give you the check. They will not pay a second claim for the same thing without proof that it was repaired. If you do the work yourself, keep the receipts and have the insurance co. inspect it when it is done.
