Post whore problem discussion
Well, as a result of a few other recent threads I've decided to try to start a serious discussion on post whoring.
For those that may be new to this board and not sure what I'm talking about, it is simply replying to threads, adding little or no content with the intention of increasing the displayed post counter. When such a reply contains lengthy avitars and/or signatures and stuff it can be very annoying to others on this board.
I expect this topic to be unpopular and possibly inflamatory and/or divisive, but will risk trying to discuss it rather than not. Although annoyed I don't take this board that seriously so if nothing changes so be it. I'd appreciate if you "very funny" post whores did not use this thread as yet another opportunity to post whore and render this thread into an oxymoron.
Speaking for myself, I usually abandon threads if they are being whored upon and, I must admit, tend to loose some respect for some of these whores. About the only solution I've thought of is to remove the post count from everyone. I think that change to this board may change its character for the better.
I'd be interested in the serious opinions of other members on this matter. And again, please, no whoring on this thread!
Moderators, if this thread becomes yet another post whoring frenzy I'd appreciate if it were deleted or at least locked.

I think this should be in the main board area (S2000 Talk). This is not really off-topic when you consider how this numbers game is ruining quite a few of the legitimate discussions on the board.

I pretty much agree with what greg said. Although if you take it away, there will be a lot of people that will bitch about it. I have been a member sinc Jan 2001, but my post's are about 300 or so, so I could not give a crap about post counts. Maybe a compromise is in order?? Any suggestions?

We had a similar problem to this on the UK forum.
Basically it started a lot of bad feelings and people not posting at all.
I hope something is sorted out because it has become a problem across the whole board.
Post count vary rarely accounts to knowledge these days.
The most knowledgeable people on this board only tend to post once in a while or use PM's.
I'd agree that post count should be hidden then its more of a suprise when you go up a gear.
