Traffic cops are simply revenue-generating assholes. I have no respect for them. They get paid to enforce the exact same laws they break all the time, which is a bunch of bs.
Situations like the above really make one think about mounting a video camera in the car. Cops do it to cover their ass, we should, too.

Cops are needed to respond to crimes and keep public awareness of "THE LAW" in plain sight which does prevent some crimes. Cops cost money. Cops also don't like to lose their jobs. So both issues are handled by tickets which are given out to innocent bystanders in the name of traffic violations.
Traffic violation tickets help pay the cops salary and justify their existance. If cops didn't have tickets to write, and didn't have anything to do all day, the public would say that the current high lvl of cops roaming around weren't needed and the funding woulnd't be there to justify otherwise, thus cop jobs would be lost.
So now that we have cops writing tickets for driving automobiles over a speed which was seemingly pulled out of someoen's a$$, which then in turn gives the insurance companies something to justify themselves making more moeny off you, all the while the phrase "speed kills" is beat into the public's head like a Nazi public service announcment when in fact speed is one of the lowest causes for fatalities on the road today.
