Congrats man... Incidently, I have a 2001 M3 as well, Imola Red with black leather with all the goodies minus the SMG. I didn't want to wait any longer. I picked it up about 2 months ago and I have loved every minute of it! Its the perfect car to compliment the S2000.

Wow, congrats on the M3, I loved the last generation, haven't been able to spend too much time behind the wheel of the new one. That shifter looks awesome! During rush hour traffic I kind of wish for a transmission like that.

Congrats dude, I'm patiently waiting for the call from my dealership so I bought the Honda in the meantime (per your advice from the roadfly.com board!). What color leather are you getting? I'm seriously considering the Steel Grey with Imola interior. The red leather looks awesome with the new trim.

Sorry for the late reply, I rode my motorcycle from S.F. to Vegas and have been away for the past 5 days.

To answer some of the questions...

- I paid MSRP, put a deposit down last july for one and have been passing on allocated cars for about 3 months since I was waiting for the SMG option.

- unfortunately I won't be keeping the S2000, I only have enough space for one bike and one car. It's been an awesome ride and I love it to death, my brother might buy it so hopefully it can stay in the family so to speak (even tho he lives up in Sacremento!).

- I'm getting Imola Red Leather interior



- I plan to change the wheels when I can afford to (love those magnesium colored ones on the skylines!)

- seriously thinking of trading in the RC-51 for the new Interceptor (especially after a 1200+mi roundtrip ride I just took!)

- I will try my darnest to keep my license even tho my lead foot may disagree.

-carfanatic, great! have you broken it in yet and having fun? you'll have a blast in the S2000 I'm sure. Steel Gray w/Imola is a fantastic color, definitely in the top 3 color choices for me... I saw a SG M3 a few weeks back and it looked stunning!

Thanks for the congrats all, I'll definitely post my impressions after some seat time... and I definitely plan to stick around as I think this board has the best format and driving enthusiasts I've yet found on the net.

Did you go to the guggenheim Art of the Motorcycle Show? How was it?

I've seen the Imola red leather with black paint. Looked fabulous! The red interiors still have lots of black accents (ala S2000) and is a somewhat deeper, more "oxblood" color red. Very nice!

Wow, you really lucked out only having to wait for a year or so for your name to come up on the list (before you started passing). By the time I get my M3, I will probably have waited about 18 months! But, there is only one BMW dealership in Utah so that's probably part of the reason for the long wait.

I'm really enjoying my S2K, but it's no M3. It has a lot of power but it will be nice to have power without having to rev the hell out of the car. I'm beating the hell out of it so it's probably good that I'll only have it a year! I doubt that the clutch and tires will last another six months.

I can't decide whether or not to get SMG. I mean, I love gadgets so it appeals to me, but I really like the experience of driving a traditional manual transmission. The main thing that tempts me about it is that I would probably be a faster driver since I doubt that I can shift in 0.08 seconds.

Congrats dude, I am insanely jealous!!
