Default Memory card reader?

i am wondering if i should get a [USB 2.0] memory card reader for my digital camera/PDA.

besides faster transfer rate, is there any other benefit of a memory card reader?

which one should i get?

thanks

a card reader is a card reader pretty much.

one benefit is the card becomes a drive letter.

Does your computer have a FireWire port?
And if so a fire wire cable may be the way to go.

I only recommend them because they are much faster than USB and the memory card readers aren't much to look at.

yes, firewire is faster as it is a 2-way street, but don't forget memory card bandwidth is not even close to that.

either is fine; usb being cheaper. performance is limited by the card itself (and the bridge chip in the reader).

you don't have to use the camera's battery as much and it's more convenient that plugging a cable into the camera.
