5+ years in SAN DIEGO, Southern California. That streak just ended on October 31st.. Damn, cops out here.. are all over the place..
He pulled me over for no front plates, and asked to pop my hood, and checked under the car, to see if I had a cat, and check for all CARB #s for my Spoon Header. Pulled a tape measure, to measure the height of my headlights.
To sum it all up, he pulled me over for having no front plate, gave me a fix it ticket for : Plates, being too low, loud exhaust. Sent me to the SMOG REFEREE for not having CARB # for my Spoon header, Spoon snorkle, and only having one tailpipe, since the car originally came with two.
This is at 7:00am, on Halloween day, 2 blocks away from my house.. WOW!

I haven't had a front since at least January 1992. Maybe longer. At that time, we weren't required and MA's rules are you have the registration number until you turn it in for new plates or taking the car off the road. When you buy a new car, the plate goes with you. I've had the same plate on at least 4 cars. It's pretty beat up but I don't want to get stuck with having to put one on the front.

I've never had a front plate on my cars since I started driving ~'84. Have rec'd one NFP ticket during that time, ~4-5 years ago when I got busted for speeding. Cop knew we'd been driving a LOT faster than he clocked us due to calls from other motorists, so I feel the NFP was just an effort to tack on extra punishment.

The front plate never went on the old BMW that I still have since 1988. It's been registered in California, New York, New Jersey and Virginia.
