Default Is it legal to place license plate on dash board

I just got a citation from the parking bureau for not having the front license plate. Isn't the police suppose to give that citation and not the parking people.... Anyway, I noticed some cars put the license plate on the dash board. Is this legal... I really don't want to put the license plate on the front bumber. Anyone know.... thanks,

Your state makes the license plate requirements. In my state you have to have a front plate displayed "on the front of the vehicle", and they will ticket anyone with a plate in the window as well as if over half the year sticker is covered by something (like debris or frame). In Illinois you don't even have to have a front plate. Check with the DMV.

Doesn't matter if you don't put any thing on the dash, a head on collision on S2000 is gonna bring you and your passenger to the hospital.
Now think with your brain, use a super strong tape and securely tape around the plate into the wind shield. Someone gotta be really stewpid to just put the plate on the dash.

ILLEGAL!!!! to have the front plates on your dash, i have my front plates on, because stupid ass cops here in cali will use that as a reason to pull you over, especially at illegal street drag racing. i also have my front plates on to protect from rocks and stones from chipping my bumper
