Default LCD TV?

Didn't want to cut into Scots thread....

What do you think of this one: http://www.costco.com/Browse/Product.aspx?...p=C&ec=&topnav= I think it has a built in tuner....

I'm going back and forth between LCD and DLP. I was always going DLP until I bought my dad little 24" LCD and was really impressed. I have a fairly small living room, couch is about 10' away from the tv. Thinking 42-55" max.

You can have both.

DLP is the processor and LCD or Plasma is the display

HUH? DLP is the display type, not a processor.

you cannot get an LCD or plasma set w/ a DLP chip.. dunno where you came up with that. You can get DLP projection, LCD, LCD projection, LCoS projection, Plasma.

If you stay ~42" then LCD is great. However if you're looking into larger screen sizes, LCD or Plasma become very costly. This is where some sort of rear projection tv is better (LCD, LCOS, DLP)

If you are not going to hang this on a wall. go with a rear projection DLP or LCOS/SXRD TV. this will give you size, price and viewing angle. if you are going for a wall mount, plasma is the choice for tv/video viewing, better viewing angle and price than comparable sized lcd.

I myself am getting LCD because i want a media center PC in my living room. LCDs have greater computer resolution capabilities.

You also want a built in tuner. I made the mistake of buying an HD monitor. When my fancy pants DirecTV receiver with built in over the air tuner went on the fritz guess what the result was. No HDTV. If you get HDTV via cable, they probably don't carry all the receivable channels and subchannels. Same with satellite even if you are in a area where they carry the digital channels for your city.

sony XBR2 LCoS sets can display full 1920 x 1080 from a pc. XBR2 are without a doubt (in my opinion) he best RP TVs you can buy.. I would certainly pick one over any DLP, LEDs or not.
