that hole looks a little to bit mapped and anti-aliased for my liking. looks to me someone just blotted out some other kind of surface feature in MS PAINT

I dont doubt there are caves and holes on the planet, mind you, just that pics looks suspect to me.

it is an odd picture, but you have to consider the type of imaging they use to take these pictures, a lot of times things look weird. apparently its on some volcanic mountain, so perhaps its a sinkhole?

 

looks more like someone painted that shizz on imo. maybe nasa just blacked something out?

 

oh the stories of blacked out pics of objects on mars and the moon........

 

That picture was taken at a staged location in Arizona

 

That appears very similar to the large hole found on uranus.

 

no wonder I felt strangely at home when veiwing it
