iTunes F**ked up my ipod..
itunes asked me if i want to update itunes & ipod.. so i said yes, but during the update ipod updater says "firmware error: disk write error" or something and keeps crashing.
ipod wont even turn on now, it just says disk mode (w/ folder & !) and turns off...
ipod update RESTORE doesnt work either!! so my ipod is f**king done now.. i need a new MP3 player, some1 recommend anything BUT a F**King ipod

Go to the Apple Store

Take your ipod to the genius bar and let them give it a whack. They replaced an out of warranty ipod for me.
It's worth a shot

Either look up how to fix this yourself or go in and have an Apple rep do it.

Don't be an idiot. A failed firmware update is rarely the end of a product. Problems like this can and will happen to any device you are flashing with a new firmware.

WTF? "WILL" happen? No. Anytime you are updating firmware, problems can occur, in the sense that "can" implies possibility, but well-designed systems do not fail often, or without some adverse event. That is kind of implicit in the term "well-designed." I've never had a problem with firmware updates on my two Rio's (not that that represents a significant sample or anything).
Sorry, but the sheer number of problems with iPods argues that there is a problem. Pretending that the problems are par for the course is ignorant. And calling people names for expecting more from Apple is just rude, IMHO.

My iPod had the unhappy folder among other things go wrong about 3 weeks before my warranty expired, so I lucked out and got a new (or remanuf.) unit. If my current one ever dies, I'll give another product a shot, probably.
