Ahhhh....welcome to the life of chemical change!!! You think it's bad now....give it another year when your your metabolism slows to your actual metabolitic rate.
While persuing my human bio. degree, I learned about this and always thought about how lucky I would be once I reached this point in my life........In high school and college I had sleep, food intake, and weight problems. I could not sleep more than 4-5 hours a night; I was always tired. I ate anything and everything in front of me. I could not gain a pound.......I was a thin 120 lbs throughout highschool and college.
The lack of sleep did help me in excel my studies, my dj'ing, my b-ball skills, and help maintain multiple jobs......there were just tooo many hours in a day for me.
Fast forward to the first two months into my first job as a consultant. I travelled A LOT, lived out of a suitcase and got to know many, many servers at many, many restaurants, bars, and at local "business balets". I ate, drank, and ate just like I did in college........before I knew it, I went from 120 to 160 (in the first month alone) and haven't looked back. Even now, I am steadily getting heavier (I'm now at 180), and I am sleeping about 8-9 hours a night now. It's harder for me to go out to the gym now than it has ever been........
If I had to do it over again, the only thing I would have changed is the amount of activity. As I got more responsibilities at work, I got less active...if my metabolism slowed down and I stayed active, I'd be at my ideal body condition and weight.
Lesson: Stay active, don't sweat your lack of sleep right now....it will come around later in life.
