Hip-Hop genre slowly phasing out???
Now this for the people who love Hip-Hop/Rap music from day one. I don't know I feel that it is slowly being phased out by more commerical bs, more R&B and Pop like music, I hate that. Now I just listen to a lot of underground hip-hop and some old school hip-hop and rap from the late 80s to the mid 90's so I can still appreciate it. Most Hip-Hop artists these days strive to bring back that 80s and 90s flavor back, but it just backfires, what do yall think about this??

There are not many good rappers still in the game, and there alot of TERRIBLE ones all over the air waves. "Chingy" who the hell is this guy?
Jay-Z is good, but seriously he is getting (got, I guess, since he's "retired") way too commercial. Nas is good still, D-Block is good, but really only on thier mix tapes. 50-Cent was good on his first album, but again there are other things in this world than flashy cars and bling and guns and getting shot.
Eminem is staying pretty strong (even his new song with D12) remember his first song, thats just who that guy is.
Outkast's first couple of albums were great, especially ATLiens, but the new one is in a totally different direction, going beyond the limits in some cases of what I consider rap, but still, some of it is good music.
As with all commercially sold music, artist come and go, and go on hiatis in between studio sessions. But some of these artist have out-stayed thier welcome in my opinion. Ludacris is acceptable only becasue he is an absolute nut. But he should not be ranked among the best of all time since he is nothing like what rap was oringinaly.
I guess is comes down to rap (really music in general) has changed sooo much that its easy to get in the spotlight, do your time, get rich, and leave. This destroys the chance for true tallent to come through, as the spotlight is already shining on some other record exec's toy.
I guess what I'm trying to say is look at THIS LIST and you wont see too many current rappers.
Drop Salt-n-Peppa out of the top 10 and move the Wu-Tang up and Im pretty happy with that top 10 (not necessarily in that order).
for the record I dont like the new guy on Roc-A-Fella, the one with the broken jaw, his name escapes me at the moment.

hell yeah that commercial pop sucks and these people consider it hip hop. you want real hip hop listen to aesop rock, visionaries, atmosphere, eyedea, living legends etc
i can't agree with this thread any more and as for d12 and eminem, hah i seen that kid in the early 90's get served and the thing is now your nothing more than a marketing item not an artist. people who produce there own music are the real artist
ahhh see im gettin mad at all this trendy repetative hoooks and more hooks.

Now I have to give props to Eminem when he is on the serious note, a very ill lyricist for one, and also Proof of D-12 another great lyricist. The only commerical Hip-Hop/Rap I listen to these days is either Nas and 2pac (two of my favorite rappers), Wu-tang clan, and Cypress Hill and underground hip-hoppers like Jedi Mind Tricks, Non-phixion, Immortal technique, etc..

a2daz, you know i loved rap back in the day. but i've just been "turned off" with the lack of talent these days. sure there are talented artists these days, but it's nothing like it was back in the early and mid 90's, there was good music coming out left and right.
right now i'm really into rock and metal, and occasionally to listen to some old school hiphop(from talented artists).
