YOU STILL USE GAS FOR THE DAY!!!! it doesnt matter if u dont buy it that day, you still consumed it that day. this would only work if every1 stayed home and not use gas

Fill your tank with tea and pour the gas in the harbor.

It did work in 1997.. so let try again. it worth the try.

If you are willing to ride your bicycle to work/school/whatever that day, so be it, I'll still be driving my car to work, and if it happens to be near empty, I'll fill it up too.

If I owned a gas station I think I'd raise the price on the 16th just to make some extra $ of people that actually believe this concept works (not buying gas on a given day)
LOL it did not work in 1997, or any other year this e-mail has been circulated (which is just about every other year).

[QUOTE=NATURAL JOCK,May 11 2007, 04:43 PM] In April 1997, there was a "gas out" conducted nationwide in protest of gas
prices. It was most effective and gasoline prices dropped 30 cents a gallon
overnight.

On May 15th 2007, encourage all your friends and families not to go to a gas
station in protest of high gas prices. Gas is now over $3.00 a gallon in most
places.

There are 73,000,000+ American members currently on the internet, and the
average car takes about 30 to 50 dollars to fill up.

If all users did not go to the pump on the 15th, it would take
$2,292,000,000.00 (that's almost 3 BILLION) out of the oil companies

I don't know why people are all pissed about this. The gas prices, inflation adjusted (the only real way to compare time periods) are not at records (they're close, though).

But, the percentage of income people spend on fuel, even now, is nowhere close to being a record.

IBTL - this "idea" has been recycled periodically since at least '99.

It's unworkable and basically a way to say "WAH!" about gas prices.

For a more organized and better documented rant on the subject, go to www.snopes.com and enter "Gas Protest" in their search feature - don't worry it works better than s2ki search

BTW, are we going to start seeing Nigerian scam lettters, "add 4 inches to your penis", and "You've just won the lottery!" posts to this site as well now?
