.380 is in very short supply here too. production not meeting demand.
the range we shoot at only sells to people shooting them at the range...you can still buy bad guy bullets but they are expensive right now.
Supposedly the supply is going to pick back up.
I am still going to get the LCP but I will probably go with a grip clip instead of holster...its so small
I have a simple, leather, inside the belt line, pants holster for my SIG 229 but that gun still seems a bit large for an everyday CCW (at least for us non-tactical guys). for open carry I love it

So far:
Ruger P97DC .45 I love this gun. I've had it for a while now.
Remington 870 18" 2-shot extension with a light (w/ pressure switch) mounted on the end.
Taurus PT101 .40 I went to buy a Ruger LCP and they were on severe backorder at the time. So I picked up this one used at the local gun store. Got a great deal and it shoots awesome. I was leary at first because I prefer Ruger, but it really suprised me.
Future:
AR-15 would love to build my own but money is tight right now.
Ruger LCP
Some sort of .308 rifle w/ scope. Just because.

for those asking questions about what they should get for their wife/gf/so whatever.... as an entry level protection device...I suggest strongly the Guardian Angel pepper blaster made by Kimber.
Go to youtube and watch some videos on its use and effectiveness. For those who want to protect themselves but are not quite ready for a gun, this is the best alternative IMHO.

what model 229 do you have? i'm strongly considering the SAS in .40...
love the gun and, coupled with magsafe rounds, I am confident in its use as a home protection weapon.
I just tried it as a CCW and its heavy and bulky to me. if I choose to carry a weapon that size it will be an Kimber ultra carry II in .45 and a molded composite holster for sure to plant that sucker where I want it.
My pants are worn a little low on the bellybutton and heavier weapons sag me up something fierce....LOL and no I am not wearing my pants gangsta style

hmm so you prefer the 1911...cocked and locked? i'm skurred!
i looked at the kimber, and the EMP .40
just decided i preferred something a little newer.
the kimber is an awesome gun though, no doubt.
this one, i think, is for me:

The Kimber is like buttah though....so smooth
the bever tail safety is a bit quicker for me to get down to business with.
my 229 is from blue box era so its a few years old and its a fine weapon too!! I love the de-cocker on that one as the safety. Great dependability a breeze to clean...awesome gun. My biggest problem with this gun is my first round when the gun is de-cocked. The trigger weight in that state is so different and forward compared to its ready position that when I draw and fire, I jerk the hell out of the first round...high and left every time (still in the silloutte though..LOL)

I was thinking of a P380 mouse gun for my GF but decided against it purely for ammo availability reasons. For now she'll have to make due with my PM9

I'm sure she'll survive with the PM9.. You don't want to get here some archaic steel and aluminum 1911?
