A full-length shotgun like that would definitely not be my top choice for home defense. A weapon like that has to be lowered to move through doorways, leaving you vulnerable. Its intimidating as hell and packs a helluva lot of punch, but is too big for confined spaces. Stick to a combat shotgun like the Benelli M4 or a good .45 if you really expect to have a shootout in your house

That being said, that is one bad-ass shotgun.
Very good point.

Counterpoint. Home defense is not about clearing rooms. It is about staying in one location with good cover, on the phone and waiting for the cops to arrive. If you do the smart thing then barrel length is not an issue.

Its about defense IF you get your entire family in one place. Otherwise, you better be out playin some offense.

While being sure not to shoot your family when they play jack-in-the-box on you in the dark...

There are tons of reasons why one should own a gun: home protection, leisure...What if there was a natural dissaster and every man/family is out for themselves. How would you protect yourself/family then. Anyone may get in a situation where you might have to use a gun, and that requires owning one or atleast knowing how to use one.

I'm definitely gonna look into adding this shotgun to my collection.

On a side note: I'd definitely pick up my 96FS Brigadier over a shotgun, even for home defense. Everything is just much faster and easier.

Well pretty much any fvckin moron can identify a family member by saying "Who is that" "everyone stay in your room" right after chambering a round and before even putting their finger on the trigger. If you lack that ability then please don't buy one. If you know you can handle it then get one if you want but take a few courses first, I don't want to see you have to go through accidently killing someone because you don't know how to handle a gun.

Nice. I tend to agree but not everyone may stick to the plan when they hear noises after midnight. Glad to know they're properly drilled on protocol over at your place.

But my point is "offense" does not really have a place in home defense.

I'm just sayin... If your kids sleep upstairs and you sleep downstairs for example, you are going to have to move rapidly and potentially engage the person in your house in order to secure your kids. Its easy to hole up and play D if its just you and your spouse in the master bedroom, but not so much if you have others in the house.
