Default gas prices

i've been in the process of buying a car for a while but i may land on a honda fit for the reason of gas prices. they are high now but what scares me more is where they might be in a year or two. you guys effected by gas prices?? do you watch how you drive to save some green or have you considered swapping the S for a more economical car.

i do a lot of around town driving where speeds above 50 are not necessary. im considering a scooter of sorts..of perhaps a 250 bike. my car gets around 29 with my roof rack on so i cannot complain much there.

i still drive the same amount though

I do a lot of stop and go driving in traffic on 35, so my mileage is down as of late. I try not to speed, and I don't accelerate quickly at all. It helps.

That said...I heard on the radio that the reason gas prices are so high is because of speculator's, and the government is about to put a regulation as to how high they can guess, and that gas prices could be down significantly within the year. Like $2.00.

Does anyone know if that's true or false?
