i know a handful of guys who literally didn't even know they needed a front plate in ohio and/or were just too lazy to put it on... all with SUVs or something else. they've never been hassled. however, of course, the s2000 owners groups have stories like this every few months.

some cops are just dicks and have it out for those of us with nice cars. however, judging by all the bs you gave the cop *even if it was after the ticket* it sounds like your attitude didn't help. just sayin'... i wasn't there or anything...

Blows. I never had one on my s2000 until I started getting tickets from when I'd have it parked. I don't have one on 2 of my 4 cars, so we'll see what happens.
I had that happen to me last month.

Never used to run a front plate.. CT didn't require it. Now they do. Only took one $90 ticket for my to toss them on. Totally not worth it.

I don't have one either but I think it's all going to depend on the cop and the type of car you drive. If it's flashy more than likey he will pull you over for crap like that. Or if you're in an area that is known for idiot cops then yeah things like this will get you. I don't have one and never been pulled over for it.

This is exactly how I see it.

I do admit, I gave him an attitude after the ticket. I knew he wasn't going to tear it up anyway so I didn't care. I didn't say a signle thing before the ticket... gave him my info and he returned with my ticket.

I just posted this in our local forums.. this makes two delaware cops that have said this:

"A funny thing just happened...

a friend of mine was pulled over in his modified 240 for a burnt out headlight. He had no front plates as well...

The cop asked him if he had front plates. My friend pulled it out and put it on his dashboard. According to my friend, the cop's exact words were, "ok, that's fine"

Btw, this was a delaware cop."

I don't think this works in Ohio.

when the government needs $ they write this sort of ticket. it is purely an asshole tax. the way they see it, you're the asshole for not following the rules, so pay the $.

is it bs? sure, but so are the facts that GA doesn't sell booze on sunday and only allows government-sponsored gambling aka the lottery.

In CA, You dont even have to be in the car to get plate tickets!!!

Talk about Service NIceee!!!
That happened to me in DC. Even though I am from MD, they still ticketed me for no front plate. Went to court on it and it still cost me $50. They said if your state requires one and you don't have it, you can get ticketed. DE doesn't use front plates either.
