Falwell Apologizes for Comments

On Thursday on Good Morning America, Falwell said he "misspoke" when he said gays, lesbians and the ACLU made the attacks happen.

"I do not believe they endanger America. I misspoke totally and entirely," Falwell told ABCNEWS' Diane Sawyer.

When shown a replay of his 700 Club remarks and the ad accusing him of intolerance, Falwell said, "In that particular interview you just showed, I did do that."

He went on, saying, "I did not intend to do what obviously I did do. I am sorry."

On the 700 Club, Robertson said he totally concurred when Falwell finished his controversial comments. Since then, Robertson's Christian Broadcasting Network released a statement calling Falwell's remarks "severe and harsh in tone and, frankly, not fully understood" by Robertson at the time.

 

So from this we see that Falwell is not in enough control of his facilities to speak what he means or know what he said and that Robertson is too dense to understand his guest. Yep, that sounds about right.

 

Cretins, both of them. They said exactly what their pea-brains were thinking at the time, now they're backpedaling because they're afraid people will see them for the intolerant, closed-minded idiots they are.

 

Don't misunderstand, Falwell and Robertson are Christian but they over stepped there given responsibility. Theirs is not to criticize but to guide. Falwell now claims that this is not what he meant and that he misspoke. Bull, he did it with intention and anger. I've heard this from a several Christians condemning others. It's not our place to condemn. It is Gods place to judge. It is not their place to judge others character. Ministers and Pastors are there for support and understanding. Clarification of Gods Holy Word. To much pride in oneself, guided Falwells retort. No, he isn't to dense, he's just to prideful to admit that he said something that was incorrect. I've heard everything from; that this is Gods judgement for the US allowing 42 million babies to be killed through abortion. My answer to that is, why would God use a psychotic killer to do something the American Justice System could do without killing 5,000 innocent people in the process. I guess that God is speaking directly to all those who claim this! Actually, they've been listening to the American Radio Channel to much and recanting everything that has been said, as Gospel. If these people want to know what God has to say then they need to continue reading his word and not listening to everything they hear on the media, Christian media included.

These are the same simple minded people that follow the likes of Benny Himm, The Bakers, and all those that claim to be followers of Gods word. The same people that claim they are faith healers and take money for doing it. These people pray on the weak minded and say, to God look what I've done in your precious name. You know what God says, "Get away, I do not know you!" Anyway, one of the other things that we are taught is to control our tongues! Wasn't done here, OOPS! Bottom line is admit your mistakes, learn from them and press on! If you don't admit you made a mistake you will never learn from it. Sounds like he still doesn't think he said anything wrong.

Maybe if we smartened up and left all religion out of politics we wouldn't have this sort of bullshit.

Thank God religious fundamentalists cannot monopolize Western states. They have to get in line like every other special interest group and lobby for a chance of having their agenda taken seriously.

Worship Allah, worship Buddha, worship the Christian God, worship your cat, your car, I don't care -- I will do what I can to ensure you have the freedom to do that.

However, I will do what I can to keep you from unduly affecting the politics and polices of my fellow countrymen.
