Exotic Car Rentals
#11
I first drove an S2000 as a rental in Vegas from Rent-a-Vette. As a person that goes to Vegas at least once a year for a fun weekend, I like to rent a fun car to drive but do not always have tons of cash. I do not have any market research to back up my point of view, but I would be interested in sporty cars, (especially converts/roadsters) that are not a mint to drive for a few days. I saw Lambo and Ferrari prices for $1500 a day, that is more than I would consider spending on a rental. I look for a fun car for three days that may be more expensive than a fleet car but not too much to drive me away.
Cars like a 350z, S2000, RX8, Z4, Elise, Corvette, Boxster, MR2, or even a Miata for a few days at a decent price would attract me. Cars that I always wondered how much fun they are but don't want to necessarily buy one. Don't know how profitable those are but you definately have a bigger target audience that folks who can afford Viper or Ferrari rentals.
I was there for four days last december and got a Sebring Convert for $90 for three days. Not my first choice as a fun car but the exotic places had dumped alot of the cars inbetween fleet cars and exotics. $100 a day for a Z4, S2000, or 350Z and I would have rented one, much more than that and I chose the fleet car, and spend the savings on the many other fun things in Vegas.
There is so much fun to be had for your money in Vegas that you will not just be competing with other car rentals, but dance clubs, restaraunts, casinos, shows, hotel-upgrades, etc. It is my opinion that you have to offer good entertainment for the money and appeal to as many as possible, but I might be way off base too. It just seems that I see lots of little exotic car operations on the strip with really expensive cars sitting there all day. An exotic or two may not be bad, but there are few in the niche of in-between sports cars at a reasonable price. Exotics are covered in Vegas, you may want to be different.
Good luck with the venture.
