Which car would you choose?
Which car would you choose? A used Viper or NSX
95 Viper with 17,000miles--->$39,000
Or 93 NSX with 40,000miles--->$40,000
I am sick of people rev their engine next to my S2k.
Maybe if I have a Viper or NSX...
THey wouldn't try, would they?

1995 was the last year of what Dodge considers the Gen I Viper. Take a look at Road & Track's article last month on the wisdom of buying a used Viper.
Both cars are great sports cars. That's about all they have in common. Their engineering, philosophy, marketing strategy, dealer support, average buyer, and insurance premiums are nothing alike.
I would take a long hard look at both cars and have them thoroughly gone over by a competent mechanic. 40K miles on an NSX may be next to nothing. If the car has been maintained properly, etc. it could be as good as new. Similarily, 17K hard miles on a Viper could leave that car trashed.
We have a family friend with a 96 white/blue Viper (96 was the first year of redesign but a real lowpoint from a color combo choice perspective IMO). It is helaciously fast and a real hoot to drive. It isn't even remotely civilized thought. It rides real hard. It is real loud and completely impractical. It is simple, rude, crude and I love the thing. However, don't think for a second that having a viper (or an NSX for that matter) will prevent every boy racer that sees you from wanting to race.
Apples to apples (both cars check out and are in great condition) I would take the NSX if it was going to be anything more than my fair weather weekend car. If this was my third car that could sit in the garage until a sunny day, and again apples to apples, I'd get the Viper.
Good luck.

Viper
Less miles and its newer. It is also much more rare in most cases. People always talk about the Viper, as kind of the ultimate car to have short of a true exotic.

I would still rev my engine next to your viper or NSX.
With a little traffic and a little bad shifting, you could still be totally embarrassed in that viper or nsx
why not stick with what's fun under the sun?
