Default Blue Angels

As I sit here at my desk at work, the windows are shaking from the Blue Angels screaming by. There is an airshow here(Kansas City) this weekend, & they are making practice runs. This is so cool. I wonder if this could make it on the slackers 101 list?

That's cool. I saw the Blue Angels last year down at Miramar in San Diego (that's whre Top Gun used to be). They put on a great show. I hope you guys have good weather for the weekend, so you can see the full-version of the show. They actually have different shows according to what the weather is like.

Gonna be a beautiful day.....mid 80's both Sat & Sun....so, should I watch the show from the field, or from the 36th floor next to the field?

I'd watch it from the field. You get a better field of view that way. I don;t think it really helps to be up in a building. Besides, you'll miss out on the great sounds of the afterburners.

They don't come here too often, but when they do they use the building I work in as one of their landmarks. Every day when they practice we head outside and watch them fly right over. I could watch them a thousand times and would never cease to be amazed at what they do.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I do not believe so. From my understanding, that would be close to having a 'meeting' as you were observing something. Slacking would be 1) sleeping, 2) thinking about sleeping while wondering what you should do next, 3) wondering what you should do next while not doing anything at all, 4) surfing s2ki.com. Watching the Blue Angels, and incredible sight - would be close to actually doing something in your day, so it doesn't look like it would be slacking 101, but you were paid for it, right? =)

My parents live in Annapolis, each year, a few days before commencement, the Blue Angels practice over Annapolis. Sometime they fly right over the parents house, low enough to read the markings and rattle all the dishes.

Way cool!

Just another funny thought about the Blue Angels and airshows in general. When I was at Miramar last year, we were stuck in the parking lot trying to get out and they started the twilight show. For those not familiar with Miramar, they have 2 show, and the twilight show is cool since you can see the afterburner trails at night.

Anyway, all the car alarms in the parking lot were going off constantly due to the noise of the jets flying so low. I bet a lot of people came back to their cars and had dead batteries.

I work at an Air Force base, and the road in parallel's the flight line for probably half a mile, so from time to time I can watch F-15's/16's (and the odd Global Hawk) taxi down the runway and take off as I'm driving in to work. Even better, at the end of the runway the road turns and goes across it's path, so the planes take off and land right over the road! It can be quite startling if you're not paying attention and one flies right over your head at an altitude of maybe 50'. If I took my eyes off the road I could count the rivets. With the top down it's almost literally ear-shatteringly loud....but really damn impressive . [Beavis] Fighter planes are cool [/Beavis]. With the Blue Angels HQ 50 miles to the west of me, F-15's, F-16's, and A-10's here, and the first wing of F-22's (soon) 50 miles to the east, we're overrun with bad-ass Saddam-spankin' hardware around this joint .
