Best roadster/sportscar

Each of them have had their place and were great for their time.
72 Spitfire, fun slow and cheap. Great for a High School kid.
64 Corvette Conv, next to the S2K my all time favorite. It was a boat but it was quick and I loved it.
90 Miata, what a wonderful car! First year for the car and Mazda pretty much got it right. I drove the hell out of that car and the first clutch lasted 93,000 miles. Hell, even the back window held up well. Without the Miata there would be no S2000.
S2000, damn near a race car for the street!
There were others but these are my top roadster picks. If I get into non-droptop sportscars the list would be longer.

'77 911S, sold a couple of months before our third child was born; it had over 180,000 miles and my wife cried that day. (We could fit the two of us, the two boys in their car seats, the dog, and a week's worth of groceries in that car, but not THREE car seats.) A great car to drive: fast, quick, and comfortable.
'01 S2000. (Won't hold any car seats, the dog will never get in it, and only about 3 days of groceries fit in the trunk.) Even more fun to drive than the 911, though I miss that instantaneous trailing-throttle oversteer!

Caterham 7 was an awesome car to drive, however, I think the S2000 beats it if you are looking for a little bit more practicality.
MX5 (Miata) is a very good car, but lacks the performance of a proper sports car.

The fastest car I owned was my Pantera,
The "Coolest" car I owned was my '88 328 GTSi
The most troublesome car I've owned was my '88 911
The BEST sports car I've owned is my S2K. It handles great, is plenty quick, and is as realiable as I could ask.
I can't fully explain, but this car just does something for me on a level I can't put into words.
I'm hard pressed to find a car I would trade for. The next step for me would probably be a Modena. And we talking light years difference in price.
What can I say, I'm happy that I own it...Everyday
