Default Best Place to Visit in America?

Got some friends coming in two weeks. First time in the US. Where should I take them? They mentioned NYC, but it's going to be really cold, and there's really not much to "show" except Times Square?

Any suggestions???

Thanks!

It'll probably be a more worthwhile experience if they decide where to go. Based on my traveling experiences, I like to do 50% the biggest baddest craziest city and all it has to offer, and 50% enjoy the history/scenery elements. For example, you get them trashed and intoxicated in LA and LV for a couple days then go to southern CO or something. I don't know anyone who has said that NYC has lived up to the 'hype' except maybe from 'yep, everyone there is indeed an asshole, in a hurry, and traffic is excruciating'. Maybe visit a big university for an afternoon if like most asian foreigners they are curious about them.

They're going to be here for about 3 weeks. They will be in Vegas for 5 days, they'd like to visit "historical scenery" types... They mentioned DC for maybe 4-5 days. White House? What's to see/visit there?

What else is there besides the Grand Canyon, or Statue of Liberty is there for foreigners??? Thinking about it, I realized I had no idea??? Lol...

Laguna/Newport Beach CA for the environment and beaches.

NY for attractions.

Take them to NYC, if it's cold let them buy a NYC stocking cap to wear while they are there, and then let them choose the next stop. It's their trip, and there is no way they could see everything worth seeing on a single trip. FWIW, there's a hell of a lot more to New York City than Times Square. Museums, shops, theaters, historical tours, etc., the city is a destination in itself.

IMHO, there is no single "best place to visit." It's too big a country.

Vegas. There's nothing else like it in the world.

NYC/DC. NYC is THE American city, and DC is quintessential USA. I also think they are the 2 greatest cities in the country. Do some research, there's plenty to do/see there. Or, you could go out west and do the national park thing for natural beauty. Plenty to do/see there too.
