ATTN Cyclists - Anyone have thoughts on FUJI road bikes?
#1
I am going to be purchasing a road bike this weekend and am seriously considering a FUJI 03 Roubaix or a 04 Newest. Since they are a japanese bike, how can you go wrong.
Anyone have any experiences with these bikes? Pro cons? They have had quite a history in the past but I have not heard much from the company recently. They sponsor multiple race teams across the world and have distributors all over the world which is a good sign of their adoption.
TIA!
-edit- BTW, if anyone has a consumer reports.org account I can borrow, there is a article on road bikes I would like to take a look at it and they deny access to non subscribers.

Seems like an OK bike at the price point, around $1000.
The '03 had good reviews here: http://www.roadbikereview.com/2003+Road+Bi...58_4338crx.aspx
BTW, great web site for all things bike.
If you can find an extra grand, go with the TREK 5200, I love mine!

Trek 5200 for $2000???, I thought it was around $2500 or so, but in any case I also ride a Trek 2100 and I also have a Giant Mountain Bike, I love both...
The things you should look for are at least Shimano 105 components, if not ultegra or dura ace and a nice frame (steel or aluminum). In that range, carbon fiber is out.

Fuji Road Bikes are awesome!!!! I just bought an '02 Fuji Team off of ebay last year NIB for $1095. This is an all Ultegra bike that weighs under 17lbs and normally costs around $1700. I've been riding road bikes since '92 and have had Italian Campy bikes, an Ultegra Cannondale and a Dura Ace GT(which I sold to buy the Fuji). The Fuji is one of the best bikes I've ever had. Go out and read reviews on www.roadbikereview.com

My bike is a Schwinn Paramount track bicycle....remake of the vintage bike...http://www.bikecult.com/works/collections/...s/schwpm39.html
I modded it w/ thicker tires, BMX pedals, nonhurt your ass seat, fork shox and downhill racing bars, neck etc... I ride it in the Denver Tech Center...it takes a beating....best of both worlds....I guess you could call it a hybrid bike
if you do buy a Fuji mod it to your needs ...man I love modding stuff

I have a Fuji Ti bike with the one of the first Dura-Ace STI's. The frame looked great with a bead-blasted finish. Unfortunately, the machining on the seat post was off, and it developed a small crack in the binder post. Fuji replaced my frame with a new one, but by that time, they were only making Ti bikes with the darker (read less expensive) finish. Nice eh for a $3600 bike.
There are so many better bike brands out there, why would you even consider getting a Fuji?

Well, after calling nearly every Fuji dealer in the state, I found an excellent deal on a leftover '03 Roubaix, in my size too. Got the X-fusion frame, 105 drivetrain and all! I just need to get some nice clip-on pedals and shoes, which is at least a few hundred.
Going for a ride tomorrow.
dayvee,
Nice Hybrid. Looks like a rugged bike for road and mtn. Just switch tires and your off.
Thanks for all the suggestions, guys.
