Default Airplane phobia?

I´m flying to USA a few times a year, NYC, LA and Vegas.
Never thought about before but this time I worry a lot about the damn bombs and threats.

How about you? Thinking about it or just me getting old?

I'm more worried about getting struck by lightning.
I'm more worried about getting crap on my socks by having to take my shoes off.

Not really worried about the explosives thing, but like Elistan, the crap that happens in the airport with the TSA, etc

According to the news the greatest issue comes from flying into the US not flying around the US. It seems US security is better than most of the foreign airports. I haven't heard anything about the security in Sweden.

I have never sweated that stuff. There are thousands of flights every day that take place without incident. And only a couple weak attempts to take down a plane since the world took notice of the jihadis.

The odds you get on a plane that is a target are small. But secondly, its also difficult to pull it off once they get on the plane. Ask Richard Reid and this nigerian dude if they did not get the living crap beat out of them by passengers who are now more alert. If you act a little wierd and look out of place on a plane headed to a US destination, you are likely to get jumped by some twitchy passengers.

And I suppose lastly (even though they have their own much more proffesional security staff) the jihadis have wanted nothing more than to attack Isreal and they have not had an airline incident in I don't know how long. Don't think the terrorists would love to take down one of their planes. They just can't make it happen.

But don't spend your life thinking about things that can kill you that you have no control over, you'll go nuts.

Theres 8083053584359084350843509834509843509 flights going in, out, and around the US every year, and theres only a handful of incidents. Id say the odds of you having a safe flight are pretty high.

Yeah, I understand, not scared in any way but started thinking about it a few weeks ago. Have been flying to USA around 20 times since 9/11 and never thought about it before. Weird...

If we forget my thoughts, do you think we´ll see full body scan´s in every airport in the future? Taking it too far?

I'm going to paraphrase this, it's easier:

"If you find yourself staring at imminent death, take the time to consider how lucky you are for the life you've led thus far; or, alternatively, if life hasn't treated you so kindly--which seems more likely due to your current situation--just be glad that it won't be troubling you any longer."

(My apologies for inexactness)
