ok ....been wanting to chime in all day.....but i was at work.

Rap on the radio today SUCKS!!!! theres no other way to put it.

It drives me insane that people like Lil Wayne is praised as such a great artist. WTF WTF WTF!!! are you F'in kiddin me?!?!?!?

He is straight trash along with 99% of the radio rappers out there! Everything out now is to appeal to women.

I'll admit one thing.....rappers today are more marketable. in a business sense, it makes sense. cause they appeal to more then just a niche of people.

But rap started going into a recession in the mid 90s.....now we are in a depression!!!!!!!

I'm a big fan of Wu - Tang, Kool G Rap, Nas, Jay-Z (old shit) , Canibus, AZ, Mobb deep, Cormega, Saigon, Onyx, Tribe Called Quest, Eminem, D12, Kurupt, Busta, Gravediggaz, Lost Boyz,Xzibit (before pimp my ride), Big Pun, Beatnuts......the list goes on.


There are a lot of good arists now you just don't hear on the radio such as:

Finial Thoughts: you know there is something wrong when Hot97, Power 105.1 and Z100 are playing very similar songs. Please don't promote the crap thats out on da radio. it destroys it for the true fans. like me and many others who get pissed when someone praises LIL WAYNE and SOULJA BOY. PLEASE STOP. STUPIDITY DESTROYS HIP HOP. REAL HIP HOP.

Its on life support right now.....don't pull the plug you faries.

lil wayne and soulja boy are talentless fools. do they think before they talk? their lyrics make no sense. what sux is now its all about the catchy beats for the clubs. the words dont have to make sense. its a shame the rap genre has become so terrible.

 

Not sure if my theory is 100% provable, its definitely falsifiable, but how i see it is everyone has their time period. When i say time period, i mean the time in everyones life that they are malleable and impressionable. I'll bet that most of you guys were growing up in the 90's and 'grew up' with this music. I know with me i've started to say "I remember when' and 'when i was younger', which are two very big indicators that i've moved on to next stage in my life. I'm not the biggest rap fan, but have listened to my fair share of gangstarr, Tupac, biggie, and the other heavy hitters from the mid to early 90's and most of their themes are very similar to what is being played now... Thats not to say any of this new drivel should be put on the same level as the oldies, but its definitely dating us as a generation.

 

rap nowadays isn't what it used to be but theres a handful of newer artists who still bring it lyrically: lupe fiasco, common, consequence, even kid cudi isnt too bad.

 

yea....but they aren't in the forefront anymore.....they are not gettin the love and respect.

certain things evolve for the better but this is going for the opposite direction. straight into the tar pitts!!!!!
