Default Iphone 5

I know it's more than likely the iPhone 5 will be released this Fall. I can wait until then to get a new phone as I am not in a hurry to get one. I prefer to get it the service through Verizon. How has the reliability/service of the iPhone 4 been this past year with Verizon?

Thanks.

More like iPhone 4S.

I'm on ATT and not in your area, my opinion means nothing.

The dreaded Verizon vs ATT debate lol

See the iphone4 thread also in the off topic. It's interesting to say the least .. yes Verizon is best in voice but it doesnt get my nod for data. Not yet at least.

I have an iPhone 4 with VZW; works great. Prefer it over my previous phone, a Droid X, and light years ahead of the Blackberry I used to have.

I agree with the blackberry being outmatched in terms of advancement. However, when used with a BES setup it is super reliable and awesome on the business end. My organization is 90% berry with driods being tested and it looks like when we are ready for upgrade we will be going the droid route. For some reason apple products have some funny life span and seem to start dying when a new product is on its way to being released ....

How does your iphone4 work when coming in and out of wifi range? My berry on vzw is garbage in that respect.

Nothing beats BES IMO. My company currently uses BES for most employees. Some of the senior partners use iPhones; I snuck my way in ;-).

I am surprised your company is going with Android OS phones; my Droid X (Android 2.2) was horrible with Exchange integration. At one point, Motorola was offering free third-party Exchange software because the native Exchange app wasn't cutting it. This may have been limited to just the Droid X and not other Android devices, and since then I believe 2.3 is out.

The iPhone works well with our company server. I'd say one area that can be improved is the search; BES just allows a more versatile search function.

When I have my WiFi on, it seems seamlessly. When I get home it automatically connects, no fuss. I will say that I usually have Wifi off though. When I used to have a Blackberry (Tour 1 and Curve 3G), internet browsing was so slow that I tried whatever I could go speed it up, i.e. using WiFi. With the Droid X and now iPhone, browsing the internet is actually very quick, even on the 3G network. The limitation of the Blackberry devices (at least the models I've had) were its processing speed and not the network. (For a very short time, I had a iPhone 3G years ago on ATT; when I had service, it was faster than Verizon).

Therefore, I seldom see the need to have WiFi on, even in my house.

Unfortunately, I think we will see RIM fade away as iPhone and Android devices take over. I wish RIM got its act together and released its new line of phones earlier rather than later.

I'd venture to say that the batteries in all of these phones usually have a useful life of about a year before they start to noticeably deteriorate. Fortunately for most phones (i.e. not the iPhone) you can change the battery.

^^ Yeah man, for some reason when the iPhone was tested it did not do well with us. The newer driod OS and phones are testing well so far and they offer great tools for us. I sadly am not a test user so I am stuck with a Bold. It works good and is pretty solid but as you mention their processing power lacks. However, I had the Bold with TMO and that thing was a 100 times better.

As for wifi, with Tmo I could be pulling in home while on the phone and my wifi would be picking up and it was very very rare that the phone could not handle the transition into wifi and keep the call or freeze on a data end. With VZW it drops the call about 99% of the time. Not just at home but in various wifi spots.

My iphone4 went into recovery mode this past weekend. I seem to have lost all my pictures and am currently trying to find which PC has my latest backup / sync. Yes, after almost 1 year of HARD usage my battery is starting to show signs of wear. Aside from this weekends recovery debacle, my iphone4 on AT&T has been SOLID!!!!!
