its kinda funny....Denon or D&M holdings is my customer, and I had like 40 executives from all around the world in my office a couple weeks back, and they were talking with us about how they can promote their Dennon DJ line though online forums and such....man I played along and told them they should do something with their DVD DJ gear or something, but really there is no sub for 1200.

Denon's gear is always plentifull with features and technology. That's why they are always big with wedding and mobile djs. But most club djs want to keep it basic with a higher grade of durability. Which is why most club installs get a set of techs and now a serato box. Rock solid stability and sure fire performance.
I was a huge fan of their dns5000 out of Japan but when they started coming out of China with the 3500. The quality just wasn't the same. They desparately need to bring back the reliable performance of the famed 2600.

denon has always been the revert-to company for mobile dj's, but in the last few years i've stayed away. why? because reliability outweighs features - ESPECIALLY in the mobile world.
i spin 200 parties a year. i can't have things go down on me, unless it's a bridesmaid
i've been using CDJ's for 6 years. i've had all flavors - mk1's, 2's, and 3's. none of them have
ever failed on me. ever.
those 3700's looked way cool until i played with them, and realized the platter was ONLY for scratching and was useless for pitch drifting and mixing. i realize and respect those older rack mount units are the staple stable standard in the mobile world, but you can't honestly play with + and - buttons and tell me you are 'spinning.'
ps, i love my techs too - they're just too damn heavy to run around town with! they stay at home in the basement for the scratch and juggle lessons.

and there it is. the real situation of denon, as it has been for the last few years.

Their DNS5000 was super stable and rock solid. I never had my set fail me. The features were bad ass and I used to use all of them. I love their products but the reliability has fallen short lately. They have become more focused on keeping the price down and features up instead of leveling a price and increasing reliability. I was never a fan of the dual decks but thats where their bread and butter is. So they tend to stay marketing that angle a lot.
Pio's are nice but I just never liked their lack of features and super high price point. I also have seen and experienced issues with them out in club setups. If you have your own set that you travel with. No problem. Same was the case with my old Dns5000. I would always show up to a club with my set despite what the owner of the club told me they had. There is nothing worst than rocking a crowd then right in the middle of a hyped set .. BOOM! ..the deck stutters or shuts down.
Thats why my last few years of spinning in clubs I went with Technics and Serato. Funny but I have one of my techs set up here in my office .. People sometimes see it and say .... WHAT THE HELL IS THAT!? Damn the digital age for destroying the warmth and feel of the Vinyl sound
If any of you guys are interested I will be having $1 vinyl sell off of my 3000+ collection soon.
