With the nice weather over the weekend, I took a drive up north and took a few photos at the Rouses Point bridge. Was a nice easy drive up Rt.9N

So 4 years after I purchased my GoPro, the battery has started to give me trouble. It shut off on Day 2 at Watkins Glen before I was going out for the third session.

At Thompson, this past Saturday, it shut down midway through the second session. GoPro has the battery listed as out of stock, so I found a seller on Amazon and I expect to get the battery in time for Palmer. If not, maybe I'll just borrow Jeff's GoPro to be on the safe side.

Brakes feel spongy after three track day and I'll get around to doing a brake bleed and an oil change before Palmer next week. In the meanwhile, everyone on the Levi drive please be aware my brake pads are made by the Obnoxious Brake Pad Company or OBP (as Bugsy called it). So don't complain about the noise

and Aric - that car looks sick. I wonder if I can detail the car in time for Saturday.

I've developed a squeal under really light braking, like when easing it gently to a stop at a light. Annoying.

I get that from time to time in my car too Mark, very annoying indeed. When I first heard it, I thought I was probably just getting close to needing new pads/rotors in the back (did my fronts late fall of last year). But then it went away, only to resurface randomly here and there.

It's typically caused by a piece of debris getting caught between the pad and the rotor and chewing into the pad a bit. It's nothing to really worry about. Just annoying as all hell.

I think that squeal is vibration coming from that (those) thin metal plates that back the pads. I use a brake grease between the pads and the plates, and rarely get squeal. Not sure that is the right solution, as it leaves a bit of a mess when the grease is fried up on a track day.

On my Autozone Duralast street pads. the backing plate in integral to the pads, so they don't squeal either.

Aashish's brake squeal is really unbearable. I'm in Connecticut! But I can usually tell when he's driving this side of the Hudson River.

^ I'm thinking I should perhaps stay away from drives. Last thing I want is to be the guy with the obnoxious car that's ruining everyone's Sunday drive.

I shall defer to the knowledge and experience of all those running test pipes as to what course of action I should take

Had a huge squealing problem with my 911 a few years ago, I mean people in traffic were looking at me.

Turns out it was 'crud" that had stuck to my new pads.

Fortunately, I was headed to WGI for some track days.

Sound was gone halfway thru the first stint.

Suggest you go out and do some threshold braking

Aashish only knows threshold braking.

This time of year with humidity and rain, your rotors will get a thin coating of rust if it sits for as little as a day.

Can cause a little squealing during the first few stops.

No big deal
