Brake pad & rotor change on the Frontier did not go well this weekend.
Got the driver's front done. No problem. Get to the passenger front. Bolt connecting the caliper to the front hub assembly is rusted solid. No amount of penetrating fluid would get that sucker to budge. No room for a breaker bar, and heating the surrounding metal didn't do much either. I spent 4 hours trying to get that sucker off of there, to no avail, and I stopped when I noticed that I was starting to round the bolt.
So I have 1 wheel done out of 4. I'm afraid to work on the rears, because I don't want to mess up what remaining brakes I do have on the thing. I'll have to take it in to get the bolt cut.

NNY S2k and I at Lurch's birthday party over the weekend, had to snap a quick pic of our cars together. My car looks like a damn SUV when parked next to the S2K lol. Just took the hardtop off for the summer on Saturday

And I got my new pads and Motul RBF600 fluid installed so I'll be ready for the Solidarity drive I'm on vacation next week so I plan on hitting up Tracy Rd to see how the new wheel/tires and alignment perform. Should be fun!

When you're lost and wandering around and then locked up abroad for "allegedly" poaching grasshoppers*, the american consulate just isn't all that interested. But I'm out and since the wild life didn't get me, I guess you could chalk up my mis-adventure as a moderate success.
* Actually, they seemed more worried about a rhinoceros. I played along and confessed that I had once heard about a rhinoceros beetle, but denied any knowledge, since I wouldn't recognize one even if I stepped on it.

Very positive reviews for the Civic Type R from a first drive

The hottest Civic yet is the first Type R to combine turbocharging with VTEC, and the resulting 2.0-liter engine is quite a kit producing 306 horsepower at 6,500 RPM and 295 pound-feet of torque at 2,500 rpm with a compression of 9.8:1 using normal pump gas.
It can do that by having a small turbo with an electrically controlled blow-off valve, lightweight, double-forged internals with a high lift at low revs and a low cam profile as you approach the 7,000 RPM redline. Yes, just 7,000, I know. That’s still pretty high for a turbo, though.
