Who here is good with car audio
Car is an 06 with OEM headunit. All I want to do is use my Sansa Fuze MP3 player. That's it. Need 3.5mm input.
Replace the whole headunit and go through the extra trouble of using a Modifry adapter to regain dash controls or just buy an AUX IN adapter for the factory stereo? I'm leaning toward just the adapter since dash controls won't be affected and it's cheaper, but I'm concerned in making it neat and not look like an afterthought.
Please help someone who has never done any audio work. At all.

You could just use a fm modulator. It plugs into the car's antenna and when you set it to a specific channel and plug your mp3 player to it and the music plays through the fm stereo on that channel.

Very close to buying this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/2004-2008-20...aa8fd0&vxp=mtr
Hope I can fit it somewhere behind the headunit and just run a cable to the center console to connect my MP3 player. :-\

My S2000 actually has extensive audio mods including a new high-end deck, completely rewired, 0-gauge power cable with digital voltage meter direct from the battery to two amps in the trunk, MBQuart Q components, JL 10in. sub in the trunk, Dynamat doors, etc. What you might be most interested in is that I have run a wire from the RCA inputs on the deck up into the center storage compartment. That way I can plug in my phone or MP3 player and stash it away neatly so no one can see it. When I want to change something, I open the compartment, make the adjustment, and close. There's even a nice elastic strap to keep it in place. It takes some work, but it's a nice setup when you're done

When you pull the head unit out there is small space below the head unit where you should be able to put that aux interface adapter.

Just bought the Grom AUX adapter off eBay. Pulled my headunit today in preparation and to see what I have for room. Hopefully the adapter is small enough to stuff in the rear toward the passenger side because there is NO ROOM for anything below the headunit (SRS unit lives there). And holy crap is the radio door a pain to get off. Was yanking so hard I thought it was going to break.
Hope this Grom thing has everything I'll need.
