The R&R the bike shop sold me was the wrong unit
The place they bought it from is not open until the 9th
So much for getting a bot of a ride in while on vacation
When I took the bike over to have the electrical system checked, just so I would have piece of mind, the tester showed the R&R was still not dumping extra power, so riding it as I do would just end up melting things, no good
The mechanic was worried I did not have the unit grounded well, I don't see that as an issue, new clean steel bolts used to bolt the unit directly to the steel frame. So I pull the new unit so I can take it back and I discover one of the plugs contains 4 connectors, whereas that same plug on the OEM unit contains 5 connectors, and... the extra connector on the OEM unit is a black wire. Looks to me like the OEM unit is partially grounded through the wiring.
I think I'm just going to ordr a new one myself today from the place suggested to me on VFRD
What a f'ing pain in the asss

Yup, I got totally screwed...
Total Cycle wanted me to remove the R&R, give it back, they would ship it back, company would test it, then decide if they were going to send me another one, all deliveries were to be made by ground, the process was calculated to take 2-weeks
I ordered another unit from the company suggested on VFRD, should have it early next week or late this week
As soon as it gets installed I'm going over to Total Cycle to get the bike tested again, this damn R&R better work. I'll then return the no-good one I got from them. If I end up getting a new part back that would be great, I'll have a spare, maybe, who knows if that unit will work. I do plan to carefully mark the old unit somehow so I will be able to tell if they just ship the same not working one back to me
F'ing $300 for an R&R because I had to buy two...
After the bike is tested, if Total Cycle can't do something to get some of that wasted money back in my pocket, I'm going to tell them to kiss my asss and I will have to look for another bike shop
