A lot of bike for a first timer, both in power and price. Nice choice 'though.

Not worried about the financials, he got the loan himself so he's on his own with that one. He is also getting his own
insurance and registration. Progressive quoted him a grand a year for full coverages. In comparison, I pay about $450
for full coverage on my Vulcan.

I too am worried about too much power for a first timer, although he has ridden off road so it's not totally foreign
to him but on the other hand you have more to do watching out for the other guy on the street. I am really pushing
the rider safety course, it will help him to learn the bike more, how to handle it in emergency situations and will
also help the insurance bill.

Bike has 3700 miles on it. Just curious if anyone knows for a 2008 with those miles if he paid about what he should have?
Of course he didn't involve me at all so if he way overpaid then that's a lesson learned.

Seems a little pricey, but the Repsol is a limited edition that probably commands a higher price.

If I were his Dad, I'd consider paying for the MSF course to ensure that he takes it. Maybe convince him to follow it up with the advanced course and go with him.

I'm going to make him pay for it and ensure he takes it.

I also told him he needs to get a properly fitted helmet and a leather.

Wow
Wonderful ride, but damnn that's costly, and Progressive is who I have the VFR with, and as I recall it is even less than the Vulcan premium
Beautiful bike though, but I have no idea how I would have dealt with son and no insurance and registration and riding the thing home

Coming from the guy who taught me the wisdom of that...
I bought good stuff, and did not overpay for new stuff, and I suspect I spent about $800+ on helmet, coat, gloves and boots

Not to debate safety gear, but leather is not the only way to go!
