It just dawned upon me, I have not looked at it, it was originally looked at when I got the bike by the dealer, Spring '10
On mine, the filter is underneath the gas tank. There are two bolts at the front of the tank that you remove. The tank is on a hinge and tilts toward the back. You will need something to prop it up. I can't remember off hand, but I think one of the tools in the factory kit doubles as a prop rod.

Mr. Good Deals got a slightly used second hand filter for the cost of shipping from VFRD member.

Filters for VFR are grouped from 1998 - 2009, so it looks like we must have the same filter, K&N $58.99

Looks familiar. The OEM has more filter material. I've been told that the K&N surface area was reduced to keep the Air/Fuel ratio correct, as it flows better.

Thx
I'm doing the foam/screen/filter oil style so I never have to buy another one
What brand is yours?

For my bike K&N is clearly the brand I can find...

Mr. Good Deals yields his crown.

A fellow VFR rider got the deal of a century! (The saddle bags go for $1K new)

"I was not going to say anything until I determined there was not a catch but I actually picked up a pair of new Panniers with the internal bags brackets and all for $50. Yes you read that right $50. I could not believe that I found that on Craigs List. The lady just never used them and wanted to clean out her Garage. They were so new they still had the paper on the back of them on the exhaust shield. I still can't believe my luck."
