Rode the VFR this morning.
Honestly though, I'm too depressed to care much Sorry to hear that, but understandable
At best I will get the wheels off by early next week Any evening next week works for me
The extended forecast is all rain
Figure in mount, baleace, get them back on the bike
I won't be riding till June Not that far away

Crappy phone pic, but worth posting till I shoot this with a real camera
Too funny seeing the bike hang...
I nailed and braced a piece of 4x4 across 3 roof rafters in the garage
The red strap is a ratcheting strap rated for more than the bike weights
The majority of the weight is clearly on the center stand which is on the floor
The strap worked great to "jack up" the front of the bike once the rear wheel was off
The center stand is on a piece of 3/4" plywood because I needed just a tad more height to get the back wheel off without removing the exhaust
THANKS TO MARK!!!
After watching him remove his tires I was able to do this myself on Saturday
THANKS TO MARC!
He got my text, and sent a PM to Mark, so Mark would call me
Mark called me Saturday morning, just as I had completed the job and was about to set the front end down on a jackstand
Tires and wheels got dropped off at the bike shop Saturday morning

This is what was at Total Cycle Saturday morning, it was there for an inspection...
It's a 1961 R50 - R60 BMW
The guy found it in a barn in Skaneateles, bought it for $1,500, and spent the winter rebuilding the engine
The bike was a bit rough around the edges, but that's ok, because it was in original condition
Very, very cool
1961 - Shaft drive, wow...

A friend of mine has one of these. It has been in his family since the late 60s.

Maybe I should've waited a day to post this...
VFR tire change disaster
Makes me think I need to look into some stands.

It's a date! Thx!!!
I got your chain wax all ready for ya
I have all the tools we need, and the specs in the service manual for torque
We may have to raise the back of the bike slightly to get the rear tire on, but that will be cake, just lower the front watching we don't go past vertical on the center stand
I have to open up the front pads on the caliper I removed because when I hug it, it looks like my string compressed the pads together, no biggie
I have oil, white lithium grease, and semi-solid axle bearing grease, with luck one of these will work should we decide to use some
I think that's about it, I can't think of anything else, but you gots my number
