Great deal, right here in town. Unfortunately, I have a new set waiting to be mounted in my garage.
No, but thanks for the heads up
I got zip for miles in last year and the new tires are just that, almost new.....

Ok, I'm getting the itch big time now....
If it's nice on Saturday I need to go get it inspected and have the charging/battery system checked
So? Clean bill of health??
Never got over there, yard work reigned supreme, it ain't easy being a hop farmer

Mark is going to help me test the charging system on the S on Saturday morning
This will help me learn how to test the charging system on the VFR
Last year I chased my tail over an R&R issue, which now might boil down to not an R&R issue, but a seriously damaged brand new battery which I have now replaced
I'm so itching for my 1st ride, congrats to yo for being out and about!!!

So I saw a commercial yesterday for the Yamaha Bolt. I think it is a nice looking bike:

Only problem is that it is a V-Twin, and I'm not into those. Not a fan of the sound from them.

Can't be a Hardley clone without a V-Twin!

The vtx had a totally different sound for a V-twin more rumble-ly less loud
And yet I still get told its girlly :scratchhead:

Ok, here's what I found...

Thanks to Mark I now know how to do one thing with the multimeter

New battery fresh off the charger not in the bike - 13.1 - 13.2
Battery installed, engine warm, hi-beam on, at idle - 13.8 - 14.2
Battery installed, engine warm, hi-beam on, constant revs at 5,000 to 7,000 rpms - 14.8 - 14.9

Manual states max for 5,000 rpm is 15.5, tried as as I did, I never got the reading to pass 14.9
So as I read it, the new battery is fine, the charging system is working fine at low revs, and the entire system is working at hi revs because the charging system is not spiking

So Mark, do you think I need to take the time to check the R&R separate or have I already learned enough to know it's working properly?
Or, an other way to ask this, if the R&R was bad, what kind of readings would I be getting?

Remember the Harleys at the intersection in Rush when I pulled away on my Staintune enhanced V4?

I think the RR is fine. A typical failure would result in over charging. If it were above 15.5v, then I would dig deeper.

I did some wiring work on mine over the weekend. Added a "VFRness" to correct some of the known issues in the 6th Gen. It provides better ground paths and two main power paths to eliminate issue with hot connectors. I also added a relayed fuse block for accessories and an on board volt meter to monitor things. With the heated grips and vest, I want to keep an eye on it. The on board volt meter is registering 14.5v at high RPMS, so my RR is good.

VFRness bundle:

I also wired in a new garage door remote.

AWESOME
Thanks so much, for everything!!!
If Mother Nature is not pissing on Saturday I'll be out for my 1st ride

And by the way, I tried like heck to get the sucker higher than 14.9, but no luck at all

And now that I know how to do this one simple test, I'm planning to do this same test next time I start up the beast, I'm going to run it up to 219-degrees where the fan kicks in, and see what happens then

Your drinks are on me at the next D&D you show up to, and if you not be drinking, then it'll be an appetizer
